Principal Legal Counsel within Corporate Investment Banking for Absa Group
Pavel has been managing legal risk within Global Markets and its dealing rooms for almost 2 decades and currently serves as Principal Legal Counsel within Corporate Investment Banking for Absa Group.
Pavel holds a BCom, LLB and LLM from the University of Witwatersrand and recently completed an Executive Leadership Course with the prestigious IMD Business School in Switzerland
In her legal capacity, Pavel led the implementation of the FMA Conduct Standard and Variation Margin rules, and was involved in the IBOR transition project and various other regulatory projects in various capacities and as necessitated by international regulations.
Pavel is strategically involved in the upliftment and advancement of women, and currently serves on the Pay Parity Workstream of the Absa Bank Women’s Forum and externally she is a Mentor and Steerco member of the Gauteng chapter of a New York Bar Advancement of Women in the legal profession programme.
Having served as the Chairperson of the CIB Employment Equity Forum, Pavel has been recently elected as the Absa Group Employment Equity and Skills Development Forum Chairperson, and hopes to have meaningful and impactful advancements in the Group’s Culture journey and its the Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging Agenda
